The Creative Soul Residency
The Creative Soul Residency provides exceptional choreographers the safe harbor to connect with and deepen their creative voice.
With the noise of surviving as an artist, it is often an elusive luxury to stop, experiment and play for extended periods of time.
The residency consists of six hours of rehearsal space a week for a full year. The only requirement is the artist must spend the full six hours a week in the studio. Creative Soul Residence alum are available to support those moments of creative block, panic or just creative loneliness.
Current Recipient
Choreographer
The 2025 Creative Soul Recipient is Leah Misano. Leah believes it’s always about the human experience. Everything stripped down to its bare bones is about our want, need, and drive to connect to others. Inherently everything created by humans has some form of humanity that exists within it. Rather if we mean it or not, there is always something there. We look to find meaning in everything we do and we want to find a reason for something to exist – for our existence. This never ending search for our care and passion is what keeps us moving forward. When we have intentions for something to never be more than what it is, we are just holding back our own emotional self to protect ourselves from the harshness of the world around us. I want to be fearless and loving and giving and soft and rough and selfish. I want to be everything always and everything between those things. Nothing is ever black and white.
